Nashville to Atlanta

Hey everyone! It is now day 17 of our journey and the past few days have been really busy for us!

We stayed out in the country in a Nashville suburb called Pleasant View, Tennessee with my grandparents Ernie and Judi Carlson. They were once heavily involved in the music industry as studio musicians as well as traveling on the road with big bands such as Don Ellis and Tex Benake and the Modernaires. My grandma even served Walt Disney himself when she worked at Disneyland as a singing waitress!

Wr enjoyed many delicious home-cooked meals, and watched the Los Angeles Kings beat the Phoenix Coyotes in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.

On 5/17 we left early for Atlanta, Georgia. It took an easy five hours to get to ATL, which was a cakewalk since we had already done about 3,000 miles. We celebrated my birthday eve at Taco Mac as we once again watched another Kings victory - perfect birthday present if you ask me (also best salsa I've ever had).

Our first gig in Atlanta on 5/18/12 was with Bo Jackson's big band; The Usual Suspects. They played at the Georgia Tech Student Center for a group of kids and adults who participate in swing dancing year round! It was amazing to see the amount of younger people dancing to big band music and swing dancing their heart out.

The next day was our busiest yet. Our day began with a radio interview on Don Kennedy's radio station called "Big Band Jump," which broadcasts to over 100 stations internationally. Check out later this week to hear the show!

Right after that we dashed over to Bob Bailey and the Atlanta Blue Notes at the Elks Lodge, The Usual Suspects once again (this time at Brickworks Brewery at an outdoor venue), and the Peachtree Jazz Edition at the Yarab Shrine Center. All back to back with no time to rest. Needless to say, we were wiped!

Today we are making our way to Richmond, Virginia to film our next band, Joe Enroughty and His Royal Virginians.

Stay tuned for a new video and more updates from the road! Remember we have only 2 weeks to raise $7,000!! Share with as many people as you can and we will be eternally grateful!
